Top Digital Nomad Villages Across the World (1)

In the last blog, we talked about how digital nomad villages are now becoming the trend in the nomadic world. As this trend continues, the amenities made available for digital nomads are also growing. Many digital nomad villages are growing to meet the needs of digital nomads. Travel rules are stricter than ever now and sometimes can be very stressful for nomads who constantly move from one place to another. In order to achieve work-life balance, it’s important to be in one place for a couple of weeks or months. This means more productivity and less stress about constantly moving around while juggling work. It’s important to feel at home wherever you are in order to achieve a great balance between fun and work. This way, you can explore new cultures and places and at the same time you meet your deadlines irrespective of your time zone.

This year is more hopeful for a lot of digital nomads compared to the last few with more travel and work opportunities worldwide. There are more ways to earn money online these days. And many people are taking the risk of quitting their 9-5 jobs and opting to travel around the world. There is a constant search for a fine place where one can relax and work. There are many countries that’s considering this demand of foreign entrepreneurs and freelancers and coming up with different visas and projects to aid those who are digital nomads. Every couple of months, we have been hearing about a new city, town or an island that’s becoming a hotspot for nomads and attracting them with all the perks they have been looking for.

While the most known ones are the ones in Portugal and Italy, there are several others as well. Within Europe a lot of them are rising because of digital nomad visa that many of it’s countries are offering currently and also because of Schengen Visa which makes it easy for travellers since they just need one visa to travel to many of the countries. Now many wanderers often also want to turn to settlers in many of these countries. It’s hard to call them exactly digital nomads. The definition varies today.

In the last blog, we talked about the one in Portugal and Italy briefly. They are notable ones indeed but that’s not it! There are more interesting ones we have found out after doing some extensive research. So in today’s blog, we’ll be talking about those wonderful digital nomad villages that have made themselves a haven for digital nomads across the world. These are communities that are made with care and have the best activities for nomads. This model is catching up and there are going to be more of these villages in the future.

Here is a part of our top list of digital nomad villages in the world:

1. Sintra, Portugal (Boundless Life)

Boundless Life is fairly new. They are a company that promotes travel and work packages for digital nomads across the world. Ideally, when you picture digital nomads, the notion of parents never comes into the frame. Boundless Life wanted to change that. They have great packages for digital nomads who are parents as well. With Boundless Life, one can find long term stays in furnished accommodation facilities. This kind of living makes it a whole community of digital nomad families sharing apartments and other common spaces together. The great feature of Boundless Life Co-working Hub is they offer high speed internet, wor stations and great break room areas. All these facilities are close to the residence apartments which makes it all the more convenient. The great thing about Boundless Life is they make it a feel at home atmosphere for digital nomads with families. Sintra is known as the castle heartland of Portugal. Sintra lies in the foothills of Portugal about 25 kms west of Lisbon. Sintra is different for a reason. While most digital nomads prefer the sun and the beaches, Sintra offers mist and mountains. A king once described it as “ where the winter comes to spend the summer”. Sintra has a very cool climate and is known for all the castles that’s around the town.

2. The Digital Nomad Valley in Zadar, Croatia

The Digital Nomad Valley at Zadar was the first nomad village in Croatia. Initially, it was a 6 month project aimed at attracting digital nomads from across the globe. They achieved this by interconnecting the nomads with many local initiatives and building great workspaces and activities. The Digital Nomad Valley was situated in a place called Borik which was about 30 minutes of walking distance from Zadar downtown. Digital Nomads have the option of picking single occupancy or co-living spaces in Zadar. There are studio and other kind of bedroom apartments and glamping options in Zadar. The package is in such a way that nomads can stay for two weeks or more and access all faciltiies like the wifi, community events, gym and co-working spaces.

Zadar is also known for water activities and kayaking. Croatia is a very interesting destination for digital nomads as it now offers digital nomad visas. This permits Nomads to stay for a year without paying the income tax. For nature lovers, there is the Paklencia National Park which is great for rock climbing activities as well.

3. Bansko in Bulgaria

Bansko is known to most digital nomads for its Digital Nomad Fest that takes place every summer. The event is well known for its eminent speakers, presentations, workshops and more that benefits digital nomads. Sitting at about 1200 ft above sea level, Bansko is a town that’s part of the Pirin Mountain range. It is situated in the southeast of Bulgaria. The town is rich in culture and history. If you are someone who enjoys exploring nature, you can spot grey wolves and brown bears here. There are also great species of birds here as well. Bansko is known for its skiing activities mostly. It’s a winter wonderland. There is hiking, mountain biking and much more range of winter sports for the ones looking for an adventure.

There are a lot of traditional villages around Bansko and this makes it more interesting. Bulgaria is interesting in a lot of ways. It has the lowest cost of living in all of Europe. There’s strong internet connection and less taxation in Bulgaria compared to other European countries.

Over the past many years, this ski destination has been attracting a lot of digital nomads. There is a growing community of digital nomads and co-working spaces in Bansko. One of the major reasons for this growth is the Nomad Fest that’s blooming year after year in Bansko. This takes place every June.
